COLOR THEORY artworks were constructed inside boxes of coated glass and electric light. The translucent color was airbrushed oil paint.
During my meditation studies I learned about the “chakra” energy system in the body. Each chakra is a part of a certain light wavelength: the sexual aspects are in the base of the spine (red), to the energy center (orange) in the low-mid spine, to the intellectual and gut-level concerns (yellow) in the middle of the spine, to the heart (green), to the throat (light blue), to the third eye (pure blue), to the crown of the head (violet).
The sequence of wavelengths are in the reverse order of an optical rainbow with red at the top. This got me into color theory studies, which fascinated me so much that my art images became separated sequences of light, like rainbows. This was not about decorative rainbows and the “flower children” of the same era, however, that influence was part of my life.
